Melbourne 管樂團資訊


這是我在墨爾本參加的管樂團 - Melbourne Rainbow Band.
顧名思義,是一個彩虹樂團,主要是為GLBTI發聲所組成的。

很有趣的成員,但因為工作,加上交通時間太久,
因此我也只去了三次。

Melbourne Youth Music
This organisation provide a range of ensembles at their annual Summer School in January as well as during the year as part of their Saturday Music School program.

Australian Youth Band
A Melbourne-based marching/concert band for under 25s that rehearses on Saturday mornings in Ashwood. The band performs frequently and does regular international tours: USA, Canada, China etc. Conductor: Richard O’Toole.

 Westgate Concert Band
A non-auditioning community band that rehearse each Saturday morning from 9am – 12 Noon at Braybrook College, 352 Ballarat Rd. Braybrook. Melways 27

 Western Region Concert Band
A non-auditioning community band that rehearses on Saturday mornings in the Footscray area.  The band’s annual Night at the Proms Concert is a feature of their calendar.  Conductor: Andrew Houston.

 Boroondara Symphonic Band
A non-auditioning community band that rehearses at Kew East Primary School on Friday nights and performs a variety of challenging concert and popular repertoire. New members are always welcome (especially ex-PEGS students).

 Moonee Valley Brass Band
A community brass band that rehearses in Essendon on Monday nights.

 Grainger Wind Symphony
Top-level wind ensemble performing wide-ranging, advanced repertoire for players aged 18+. Rehearses at Blackburn High School on Wednesday nights. Has a new ‘Young Players’ scholarship available. Conductor: Roland Yeung.

The Victorian Bands’ League website www.vbl.org.au is also a good reference for finding a community brass or concert band to join.
University-based bands:
Most universities have student-run music organisations that provide performance opportunities for students regardless of what they are studying. Most of these societies have not only a concert band, but other ensembles as well and usually have music camp several times a year, as well as social events.
Monash University Philharmonic Society
Student-run group at Monash that offers non-auditioned Symphonic Wind Band and Orchestra and an auditioned Stage Band as well as small ensembles. Monash Symphonic Winds rehearses Wednesday nights at Monash University, Clayton. www.monashphil.org
Engineering Music Society
Student-run group at the University of Melbourne that offers non-auditioned Symphonic Wind Band and Orchestra and two auditioned Stage Bands as well as a choir. EMS Band conductor: Dr Andrew Mathers www.ems.org.au
 RMIT University Music Society
This society has a variety of different ensembles. For more details contact the RMIT student union. www.rmit.edu.au
Melbourne Rainbow Band.We exist to provide an opportunity for musicians to develop their musical abilities in an environment free of prejudice and discrimination and to promote the GLBTI community to the wider population.
The Melbourne Rainbow Band is a Gay and Lesbian community concert band. We began in 1995, and currently have around 40 members drawn from the GLBTI and straight communities. We are a non-profit community group.
